On 4 February APWA organized an Art Exhibition by women and children from various CALD communities, Afghani, Lebanese, and the Pakistani community showcasing their support and highlighting the pain and suffering of Kashmiri women for Kashmir Solidarity Day (5 February).
The event provided an opportunity for our members, under the guidance of APWA Art Director Mahrukh Haroon, to creatively express themselves on canvas and shed light on the human rights abuses experienced in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir.
Community members were provided the platform to explore their potential as artists and use Art as a powerful medium to connect with each other and be a voice for the voiceless.
In attendance were dignitaries: Hon Senator David Shoebridge Former Senator Lee Rhiannon, City of Liverpool Councilor Nathan Haggarty, and APWA Trustee Shahid Iqbal, all of who spoke about the importance of standing in solidarity with those around the world who are facing injustice, inequality, and oppression.
