MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS AND GUIDELINES FOR APWA MEMBERS

It is to provide information on the memberships requirements for members joining the Association. In particular, it sets out the expectations around ethical considerations and good governance for APWA members. This will ensure consistency in the standard of services provided by the Association while also providing protection for individuals who are members of APWA and will benefit from its services.

1. All members are required to register for membership by filling a form and pay the annual membership fee to be considered active members.
2. All members are required to adhere to the ethical guidelines of the Association stated in this document.
3. If a member has taken up a role in the executive committee of the Association, they cannot apply for an executive role with another association.
4. Members are expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner and to treat others with courtesy.
5. Members cannot share confidential information pertaining to events, documents, policies etc with other Associations.
6. A member may resign from membership of the Association by giving written or email notice to the President of the Association. Any resigning member shall be liable for any outstanding membership fees which may be recovered as a debt due to the Association.
7. If a member does not adhere to the guidelines of the Association, the Executive committee may resolve to expel a member upon a charge of misconduct detrimental to the interests of the Association (Subject to giving the member an opportunity to be heard or to make a written submission to present their case).
8. All members shall be entitled use and receive all the membership benefits provide by and through the Association whilst still in membership.
9. In instances, where the information provided in this document is not sufficient, the members must seek further clarity by reaching out to an Executive Committee member.
10. Each member is expected to promote membership of the Association.
11. Members cannot use APWA logo and other branded material of the Association for their events without seeking approval from the Executive committee.
12. Members must refrain from political or religious discussions on APWA platforms.
13. Members will not be allowed to promote their businesses on APWA platform unless they have a business membership.
